Bright painted houses

I've always found you
Sitting right there
Behind the broken walls
And the repaired stairs

My heart beats so
Just like everyday
Walked around the corner
And you took it away

We hide from each other
Catch the kids up and down
Bright painted houses
That we grew-up around

Been meeting up in secret
Dim lights in corners
Twenty years of loneliness
We've saved up together

I'll hold your hand tight
Promise I won't let go
Lower walls from your face
Though red suits you so

No white picket fences
Terraces and driveways
All I can promise you
Are bright painted houses
